The palace is very large. You need at least 2 to 3 hours to see everything properly.

There is a security check at the main gate. Large bags and suitcases are not allowed inside.

Visit early morning (09:00 AM) or after 03:00 PM to avoid the biggest crowds.
Take the T1 Tram to Gulhane or Sultanahmet station. Many visitors enter from the Gulhane Park side, which is one of the easiest ways to reach the palace entrance.
Restrooms, seating areas, and a cafe are available inside the palace complex. Some sections also have shade, but the site is very large.
Bring a light jacket for the windy terraces and make sure your phone is fully charged for the audio guide.
There is a restaurant (Konyali) inside the 4th courtyard with amazing views, but it is a bit expensive. There are many cafes in the nearby Sultanahmet square.

Don't just see the palace, buy the Harem ticket too. The tiles and the history are incredible. Skip-the-line was a life saver!
